Author 'Gipsy34' (Id 125828 ) : In the marshes near Gruissan, full of grasshoppers jumping in all directions and tease me ... they're huge, so I too have struggled to make a photo before they flee.

: 4: Hello Josy, this picture reminds me a memory of 1980. Ranging from Aubagne to 23 hours at the height of the Etang de Berre is about, we were in two cars and we were forced to stop because there were swarms of insects that made our view, not impossible GPS or laptop at the time! So we were looking for among the locusts! A good memory like! Thank you for sharing. : 18:: 19:

In my opinion, it is rather the migratory locust (Locusta migratoria). It is a herbivore that feeds primarily on grasses. It moves by jumping and flying. In numbers, they can be harmful to crops in warmer regions where their clouds descend, including several billion people. Nice catch: 3:

Fada thank you for your identification. Desert locust or, whatever, this beast then he jumped more than 1 meter, and as they are big enough I could not miss them. : 10:
