Author 'Gipsy34' (Id 150278 ) : I took this plant on the banks of the Canal du Midi and I had forgotten the name, that's why I put a sticker on the bottom. Since I found the name, I think they are acanthus leaves and are found in gardens.

Beautiful composition of this flower that I have rarely met. Very good idea to have placed a medallion to present the flower more closely. Great accomplishment, Josy!

Josy Yes, they are really soft leaves Acanthes (Acanthus mollis (Acanthaceae). The flowers are formed in such a way that only big enough drones to force the passage between the sepals and the flower that overlook the lower lip can reach the nectar at the bottom of the tubes. Acanthus The soft is often grown as an ornamental plant in Western Europe. The acanthus leaf motif is a well known architecture (typical of Corinthian). We can still admire many monuments ancient. There is another similar variety "thorny acanthus" which is like its name suggests "thorny." Leaves can reach 1m in length, it grows in thickets. Beautiful shot indeed representative.: 1:: 6:

The acanthus leaf soft (Acanthus mollis) is a plant native to the Mediterranean, offering us large flower heads made of white flowers with dark bracts. It is quite common at roadsides and on wasteland. This plant can become invasive in the garden: 1:
