Author 'Charly' (Id 130965 ) : "From 1908 to 1954, train service Chamonix Mont-Blanc Montenvers Mer de Glace was provided by 8 steam locomotives. The journey time was 53 minutes, including stops en route for water intake. These locomotives consumed 400kg of coal per trip. It is a pleasure to see this loco, my grand father was driving the number 3.

Nice picture, missing only the noise, the former had a sense of preserving the environment, judging by the bumper-ash at the top of the chimney.

: 1: Restored in 1973 and featured as we present you, the steam engine is magnificent and it was a huge success. Its uniqueness was the reversal of the march to secure the descents. Beautiful colors in a beautiful environment Bravo Charlie: 3: and thank you for supplying a second recent passion for collecting: 18:.

The boiler is not broken JC! : 7: it has been positioned horizontally over the possible relative to the slope. In this connection I wonder if this engine could make a U-turn? : 14: Charly Bravo for your picture!

For taking the electric version this summer, I think the machine came back in reverse. Montenvers station, facing the Sea of Ice, does not rotate. And the track is single with two runs en route, allowing the crossing of trains up and down. Thank you for your passage.

Oops! JC excuse, I do not know you tips: 19: I found a site with rack locomotives from the same manufacturer and in fact they are still circulating facing downhill (no U-turn!: 18:).

A nice portion of "chu" as we like with golondrina ... A nostalgic reminder of that time I had a grandfather who was driving these machines ... Excellent salary .. I tried to read the sign on office, but the jpeg was too distorted letters, but I'm sure we can play them on your original: 3:

The text of the sign is that which accompanies the presentation of the photo and that I copied. Indeed, the passage in Jpeg and small can no longer read it. Thanks for your passage! By car, tcou choo! ! : 19:
