Animal insect identify

Author 'Gipsy34' (Id 241415 ) : June 12, 2018 : despite my searches I have not been able to identify this insect (family of wasps, probably). It was huge and impressive, about 3 to 4 cm. This is the sharpest photo.

Identification > Le Fada de Marseille [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Jun 28, 2018
The scolie of the gardens (Megascolia maculata flavifrons) is remarkable for its size, its furry body black and yellow, its legs spiny and the yellow stain that adorns the top of his head. It is the largest hymenoptera of Europe (4 cm long and 6 cm wide for the female) which occurs rather in the southern regions.

Oh thank you Fada for your identification, I couldn't find its identity. It is true that it is huge and I was frightened when I saw it.

I would look may also be among the hoverflies. With the wings folded, it is not easy to identify.
