Author 'Ninik' (Id 235981 ) : Having completed my visit to the aquarium of Brussels, I wanted to make a photo of the Basilica of the Sacred heart of Brussels, the so-called basilica of Koekelberg, about 300m from here, before resuming my bus.
Initially (the first stone was laid in 1905) it had to be in flamboyant gothic style but, while the foundations and the access ramps were made, they realized that this was going to be much too expensive and, finally, a new project was approved : a basilica art-deco. It lasted from 1926 to 1970. The construction site was financed with blows of grants and fundraising.
