It is indeed half-mourning (Melanargia Galathea. There are many variations of this butterfly. It is quite common in our meadows and bears its name with this dual color black and white (wings). The ocelli that seen on the underside of the wings are designed to look away from predators (birds and lizards). Adults forage for nectar Centaurees, Scabious, Thistles! Great pic: 1:.
