Butterfly Flamed Scarce Swallowtail

Author 'Gilbair' (Id 221606 ) : Many butterflies and not only of this species is crowded in July on this solid mass of lavender flowers in the Ardèche.
Without a doubt, a butterfly is relatively common, but quite dramatic when it is still in good condition !
Camera Pentax K5 with a zoom, 70-300mm, 1/1250 sec, F 6. 3, focal length 300 mm.

Beautiful picture, the sharpness is good, the blurred background making well worth this beautiful butterfly, but the framing is not good, it would have had to leave more space in front of the butterfly and not behind following the rule of thirds. I pass a touch to show you.

I thank you for the comment, and I've also been seeing the editing that puts a lot of better value to the main subject. I regret that I have not yet myself this appreciation of the detail that makes a nice shot with a shot that draws the eye. I very much appreciate the comments not only friendly, but provide in addition a very good idea.
My turn to ask a question : nature of the editing software you use ?
In my case I have 'photo filter 7' and 'GIMP2' (I stammers with the latter, which is more comprehensive but not necessarily obvious).
Name of the character that you used for the signature, my characters are still very basic and deserve a dusting, and I have not yet found something more 'air'.
Thank you for your attention.

Hello Gilbair, to answer your question I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 14. Has this subject on the 25th of October I sent you a private message by the e-mail of FEI, but since you do seem not to have consulted, or perhaps even did you not received. I had even included my personal Email address. For my edits I made so that they are constructive, otherwise it would serve to nothing. Good end of the day.

I see that you seem to be a 'character' FEI and I have not well understood the functioning of the e-mail. I always answer to the messages received and I have not been able to find the one which you mention. I looked at the date of 25 October without success. Excuse me. In fact I don't have pretty photos of Marseille except a wolf with the salt (delicious !) !.

Gilbair I'm not a 'Character' FEI not, but a loyal member since 2006. For messaging EIF you are normally notified by a notice just like when you receive a notice of comment on one of your photos. Just click on the link to go to your personal e-mail of FEI. For your editing software, Photofiltre 7 is a bit basic and old, when to The GIMP2 it is actually very complete, but hand ergonomics this is a real gas plant. For the font (Old English Text MT) character that I use it is part of the list of Photoshop Elements, and in addition I add a style ' Contour Scalloped '. Well, I hope that you receive my second PM. Good day.

Pretty and soft colors, background blur and nice easy-to-read, bravo. (B+). The free space should always be in front of the subject and never behind.

IF I well understood (but is this the case ?) it would have been better to move the butterfly to the left. I thought about it, but given the tilt of the subject of this, I did not seem very happy.

Hello, yes it is that, the space the greater must always be in front of the subject or also in the sense of walking for subjects on the move. Very good day.

This is one of my butterfly favorite ! I find that it has gorgeous colours. A small lack of sharpness that you can fix with Photofiltre free. Thank you for this nice photo.

This butterfly is under a good angle with a framing nice. But the colors lack vivacités.

Thank you for the appreciation. When I suggested the Vulcan, there is little time I have had remarks from the framing, color and focus. So I tried to better compose the frame, this time. For the vivacity of the colors, it is a different matter, and I shall try to better select the template or... The shooting conditions which will fix also the development which is not absolutely perfect.
For the moment I have to manage my inventory of photos as the models are in hibernation or... dead !.

Yes I understand your explanation, to resume the framing it is perfect, the sharpness is when even the auto focus which does the job in most cases, but the lighting remains the most difficult, it is enough at times guidance is imperceptible to the camera to modify the light that enters the lens and therefore the result. When you told me you took a beautiful photo, I invariably reply I took a photo, nice one will see the development.

In regards to the colors of the butterflies, especially in the case of this species, there are often individuals who are a little bit 'off' I guess they are a little more old and worn out. But it is quite possible that the wings do not always have the same orientation actually one seems brighter than the other even if the colors should be the same.

This upsurge is in perfect condition which is rare in the end of the season but it seems to me to have read that there may be 2 generations per season, view the heat it is possible.
