Calosoma Forest caterpillar hunter

Author 'Ondine' (Id 159818 ) : This Calosoma (Calosoma sycophanta) is a ground beetles (family of beetles), beautiful insect carapace shines like a rainbow in the sky even in the shade in the house. This insect is drunk! Yes, he did not resist an overripe fig fell into a flower pot, I believed him dead at first, but it was not even his nose was buried in this fig! The poor must have had an attack of delirium tremens which he has not recovered! I immortalized when he was still alive but in bad shape and it is so beautiful that it took the honors of the house, too good to throw, do not you think? This is the first time I saw this beauty.

Wow ! The clarity and sharpness are impressive . The colors, also, are extra. You have perfectly managed the light, because often there is a bad glare on the shell. Where this is not the case. Undine. Just to know : you would not from the front or from profile ??

Ooh, Ondine, the great Calosoma, I mentioned in an article on the armyworm (see link) is one of the few predators of these beasties! Is it by chance, you would accept that I publish this picture for my article (non-commercial site)? I would replace the one I bet that is 10 times worse than yours! Here is a wonder quite perfect! Bravissimo Ondine and thank you! (I look forward to your response).

: 4: Thank you both enjoy my photo, Natureln, of course you can use it for your article, it makes me happy! The armyworm, which wound and even the danger to our pets, too bad there are no more large Calosoma then! I see a lot all the guests in my garden for 33 years, untreated garden, and it's really the first time I see one, too bad he was drunk, I guess that's what that it is dead! : 5:

He has not recovered from his alcohol baked fig: 18: or it was the end of life: 13: Please put my name, I guess that FEI will also appear? I am in the region of Narbonne, where pine forests are home to numerous amounts of nests ... processionary, but what was he doing here? I have a neighbor who has a large pine tree, but not seen these nests ... You have to believe that this insect carnivore needs a refresh! : 18:
