Carpet Of Flowers On The Gd Place Of Brussels 12h1

Author 'Ninik' A voir (Id 181932 ) : Here are all of fresh for you the flowers of the carpets that now cover the floor of the Grand-Place of Brussels (August 15, more on the weekend). This event only takes place every 2 years and attracts a lot of world, as you can see. Most of all, it is very nice for the moment. This year they have chosen african motifs.
The large building seen in front is the 'king's House' but in flemish it's called 'Broodhuis' (or 'House of bread'). If you see a report, enlighten me.

In the Thirteenth century, the square is surrounded by halls commercial, which the bread Hall (Broodhuis/House of bread). When his owner the duke of Brabant ceded to Charles V, it then became the 'king's House' when he becomes king of Spain in 1516.
Thus, Broodhuis/Maison Bread and Home of the Roy = one building and two different names depending on the era, and the language used

This is a superb photo that you offer us, Ninik what working and what a pleasure to the eye Even the first plan is in tune... because, as said, Daniel, you had the courage to go where it needed to be ! Thank you for this beautiful sharing that I put immediately in the bottom of the screen. I should have framed tighter on the right side to remove the building covered with a tarpaulin (to me it seems).

I found these explanations on the net This photo is a marvel 'work to place all those flowers and what a pleasure for the eyes Even the first plan is in unison. A thousand thank you for this wonderful sharing : in the bottom of the screen immediately I would have cut to the right to remove the buildings, covered by a white tarpaulin (me it seems).

In the 13th century, the economic activities, of which the bread hall (Broodhuis), focused on the Grand-Place belonging to the Duke of Brabant. The set of all the les halles has disappeared in the 15th century, but the appellation Broodhuis was kept to designate the buildings successive built in its location : first, the 's' Hertogenhuys', offices of the administrations of the interests of the duke, who were replaced in the 16th century by a building more grand, the Maison du Roy ('s Coninckshuys) because it became the property of Charles V, also king of Spain.

Bravo to the angle of view. You'd have to ask Charly its wide-angle lens so that he does not get stressed in front of your picture
> Kaenafelix [G] [P] [C] [B] [F] >Reply Aug 18, 2012

Beautiful carpet of flowers spreads out before a no less beautiful building. The framing a bit tight cutting the tip of the 'king's house'.

I see that you had the courage to make the tail for access to the balcony of the town hall. Actually the balcony we discover the grounds of ethnicity.
> Perronnet Catherine [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Aug 17, 2012
superbly successful this photo Ninik !!! I didn't know about this tradition : 'the beautiful harmony of the geometric designs in african blend in perfectly with the architectural work of the 'Broodhuis' and with the colors chosen. In France, formerly, the king had to provide bread to its subjects, that is to say, to ensure that they have enough to eat. This is the rest, because Louis XVI was not able to do that the starving people revolted. This is the only link that I see between the name flemish and the French name of this very beautiful building.

This is a very pretty place even without flowers but these rugs floral add even much more charm to this place.
Positioned in height, allows us to have an overview in which one can appreciate the tedious work that is provided.
Saw the flowers in the foreground, I don't remember most of their names too bad, you have understood, thank you Ninik of this lovely photo memories

Thank you Nicole for your comment and your setting favorites.
The flowers in the carpet are dahlias and begonias, as to those of the wonderful bouquets in the windows of official buildings, these are anthuriums.
> Manu [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Aug 17, 2012

Thank you Nicole for your update in favorites and your interest.
Here is what I found on the net : To 1. 800 m2, it takes about 1 million flowers (dahlias and begonias). The carpet is developed by over one hundred specialists because it is the eve of the 15th of August in a single day.
