Author 'Merlin42' (Id 127054 ) : Monument to the death of the sculptor Charles Montbrison Praud The inauguration of the memorial, by Paul Deschanel (president of the republic). Attached to the 24th mai1920, all Montbrison was indeed massed place Eugène Beaune, or had been trained a podium to house the Head of State ... which ultimately never happen in Montbrison. In fact, left the day before from Paris by train, Paul Deschanel fell from the train around midnight Montargis (Loiret). A barrier guard found the president in his pajamas on the way: "I am the President of the Republic" he said. The crossing keeper did not believe him and replied "And I'm the Pope", but inviting nonetheless home to spend the night, he realized he was indeed an important figure: his feet were clean! And that's how Montbrison was never president of the republic within its walls.
