Chateau de Vaux le Vicomte reflections in the basi
Author 'Amivideo85' (Id 238163 ) : The castle of Vaux-le-Vicomte, near Melun (77), is a castle of the 17th s (1658-1661), built for the superintendent of finances of Louis XIV, Nicolas Fouquet.
The latter made appeal to the best artists of the time to build this castle : the architect Louis Le Vau, the painter Charles Le Brun, the landscape architect André Le Nôtre.
Louis XIV will again call on them to build the castle of Versailles, Vaux-le-Vicomte as template1.
We know the fate of Fouquet, 'squirrel' a bolt of lightning in the movie 'the King, the squirrel and the grass snake', the latter symbol being that of Colbert, his enemy.
