Author 'Nicoledesplat' (Id 118865 ) : : 4: Charente Maritime (17): France Miniature, the Notre-Dame de Royan built in three years by architects William Gillet and Marc Hebrard, in collaboration with engineers Bernard Lafaille, and Rene Sarger Or Tseng, church Notre Dame de Royan is considered one of the masterpieces of contemporary architecture. After the bombing of 5 January 1945 which destroyed the old Gothic Revival sanctuary dating back to 1874 (located at the level of Place Charles de Gaulle), it was decided to build a larger building and architecture as ambitious as spectacular. Inspired by the aesthetics of the great Gothic cathedrals. Completed in 1958, it is entirely built in concrete. It was classified a historical monument in 1988. 3:
