Congo fisherman Wagenia

Author 'Ghislain' A voir (Id 57388 ) : CONGO, June 1971. Wagenia and fall fishery on the River Congo to Stanleyville. Exotic, wet, warm, full of aggressive insects. Place crushed beneath the din of this fall, full width of this huge and powerful river. Exotic, enchanting apparently, yes, but unbearable except residents. NB: even the crocs do not attend, fortunately, not this kind of place because of the current. Agfachrome Film (expired), Leica M3 most leicameter MR, obj. 50mm Summicron? / F. 2, f11 at 1 / 125?. Ghislain.

Since then the situation has not improved. Always so much noise, heat and 'Crossroads' is still not arrived .

Thank you for your passage on this photo of a distant era. To see the number of visits she has had to go around the world.

Ah yes, I am full of nostalgia for this place, though ... The location is the former Stanleyville became Kisangani. At the time I almost passed the crocs!

Today, fisheries Wagenia in Kisangani are part of the tourism development project in the city: Yours!

The man looks small in the middle of this pile of pots, rocks and tumultuous waves: a beautiful picture full of strength: 3:: 6:: 2:.
> Brigall >Reply Nov 18, 2009
+: : 6: I long for those fisheries ...

-:Another angle of view could make better strength and power of the river at this place, and also the agility of the fishermen to move among the pots.

I lived at Stan and this picture is great ... To watch, I hear again the tumult of the rapids where these traps were installed!
> Henk >Reply Mar 26, 2009
Single site with the rapid capture fish including the famous' master '.

This photo lack of sharpness, but it could be better if the angle of sight was reduced by an approach to the topic.
> Cémaphore [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Jan 09, 2009
This is a picture that affects the mind. The man who brave the currents to feed him and his family. It is a fishing and oh how instructive is not written in history books in France. That the Chinese are in the area, this is not a scoop, too many at home, so ... : 3:
> Author Ghislain [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Aug 22, 2008
Quite agree with you. But it is even more serious : the country is exhausted, slipping inexorably into barbarism and witchcraft. The chinese settle gradually, but for their profit only.
> Lulexy >Reply Aug 02, 2008
Very well, an asset that should be promoted. Although the country either by land, chutes Wagenia continue to speak of Kisangani. Those sinners who are the joy and the happiness of some families are sometimes left to their sad fate, the country was not taking care of them and not helping them to improve their working conditions. Let us hope that with the 5 yards they will find a small square.

This is a little picture of the daily life. He must overcome hardships and challenges with courage and determination. Is it not said that a man is measured by the obstacles ?

Once again, perfect colours, nostalgic atmosphere, the life there must be tough.
> E.j [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Mar 22, 2008
This photo is beautiful. The leaning to the right does not bother me because it goes in the same direction as the net. Splendid. Thank you.
> Tsouret [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Mar 22, 2008
They make hippos with such traps A beautiful image of a mighty river that we almost hear low as the photo is realistic.
> Evalias >Reply Mar 22, 2008
This is not the peaceful fishing, the brave man with the power, and it is a beautiful place of honor in this scene.
It is a very interesting picture, thank you very much.
> Le fan belfortain [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Mar 22, 2008
in Spite of the angle, this photo accentuates a traditional fishing of the Congo. Good documentary photo : bravo and thank you.
> Clairebielande [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Mar 22, 2008
Yes, the river bends to the right, but I remember instead of the side informative of the artisanal fisheries in these regions that we know little. The basket is very impressive indeed. Thank you for sharing.
> Dolly [G] [P] [C] [B] [F] >Reply Mar 22, 2008
I note that the river bends severely to the right, an image that comes out of the common
> Malafouine [G] [P] [C] [B] [F] (http://) >Reply Mar 21, 2008
