View taken from Calvary after 200m of ascent on foot. Central Basilica de Nuestra Señora de Copacabana The basilica is built in Moorish style (originally the Renaissance style was). It was built in 1550 and rebuilt between 1610 and 1651. It hosts the famous sculpture of the Virgen de la Candelaria or Virgen Morena (Virgin of the Candlemas blank or dark), Reina de Bolivia, carved in 1580 by artist Francisco Quechua Yupanqui, nephew of the Inca Tup.
