Author 'Gilbair' (Id 231484 ) : This cypress imposing (compare with the small figure to its base) is an old settler, came from the Far West (Texas or Mexico), it thrives in general at the edge of the swamp and its foliage is persistent. Not to be confused with the Bald Cypress native to the swamps of Lousiana, which has its roots in the water and has leaves which are deciduous.
This tree is the oldest one in Madrid : it was planted in 1632 in the garden of the Retiro, but away from any water point !
