Water hyacinth, which is not part of the family of the true hyacinth, is an aquatic macrophyte whose stems form dense floating mats.
Its leaves are epaisses, waxy, rounded and lustrees, and stand well above the surface of the water on stems. They are grossierement oviformes circular a, 10 a 20 centimetres in diameter, ourlees on the edges, which are corrugated. The veins of the leaves are dense, many in almond and longitudinal.
