Dsc 5355 Rainbow Lorikeet

Author 'Pjenot' (Id 168868 ) : The rainbow lorikeet birds are very colorful. We find almost any color of the rainbow in the sky in their plumage. The numerous subspecies vary considerably between them. The most remarkable race, TH moluccanus, is distinguished by its head and abdomen blue-purple or dark blue. Its upper parts, wings and tail are bright green. The chest is yellow-orange, more or less streaked with blue. The lower abdomen and under tail are greenish yellow. The underside is orange with a broad yellow median band and a dark trailing edge. The beak is orange, the legs are gray. The iris display a reddish color.

Psittacidae / Trichoglossus / Chordata generalist to be sure they don't deceive me / but actually deplanchii. Cordially, Pierre.

This charming loriquet, if it was seized in New Caledonia, is not the sub-species moluccencis (?) but deplanchii endemic to the Territory.
