Frangipani hornworm caterpillar 001

Author 'Tsouret' (Id 97284 ) : During our last stay in Guadeloupe we had noticed a colony of caterpillar on a bush in our house. After a few days they had eaten all the leaves. In visiting the rum museum at Ste Anne, where he is a superb collection of butterflies from around the world, I could identify this caterpillar charming as that of the sphinx of frangipani.

: 1: Hello Tsouret, the title could be, where I have my head: 13: fortunately I read the commentary Fada Marseille, otherwise I ask you the same question. This track is unique with its zebra dress and his paws full of small black dots. Congratulations on this beautiful photo and thank you to share it.

This beautiful chenille neat, with an antenna on the tail is visible from afar by the beautiful colors. She eats constantly (can eat twice its weight in 24 h) to then become a moth, the Pseudosphinx tetrio, a species of butterfly in the family Sphingidae, colors less vibrant. Thank you for sharing this: 1:: 6:.

It is indeed the larva of the butterfly 'Frangipani Sphinx' (Pseudosphinx tetrio) with a mixture of colors that can well identify. Gorgeous clarity and presentation: Jacques Bravo and thank you. : 3:
