Author 'Ninik' (Id 93743 ) : Castle Gaasbeek - Flemish Brabant, Belgium. Photo taken on 30-8-2009. The 1st castle was built around 1240 as a fortress to protect Brussels and the Duchy of Brabant, who felt threatened by the attackers came from Hainaut and Flanders. These are indeed the people of Brussels who destroyed the castle in 1388 following the assassination - by men of the Lord Gaasbeek - Everard 't Serclaes first alderman of the city of Brussels (regarded as popular heroes have driven the Counts of Flanders in Brussels that they had invaded). See id-80416. In early 1500, the Horne family built a brick castle on the foundations of the medieval citadel. In 1565, the Earl of Egmont acquired the domain Gaasbeek including the castle and 17 villages. Egmont was beheaded in Brussels in 1568 by order of King Philip II of Spain. I am the same opinion as Charly on the panoramic view. For this kind of subject is quite pretty. : 6:: 4:

Magnificent castle I'd like to visit. The tight framing for me, but I also proposed a second view in a larger plan to better situate it in its environment.

In hindsight, I had to very quickly because a lot of people coming and going to be on the way. The last time I was there, was cycling with a friend before my wedding. : 18:

The framing works well. Time Taken explains the harsh shadows and also the lack of brightness against the light.

Beautiful castle that appears well maintained. : 1: bad to have framed as tight. A panoramic view would have made for this monument. : 18:

This will be another time, now that I know the path. Many people (even with small children or strollers) are not going to visit the castle but to walk in the park, which is great.
