HDR processing adapts well to this kind of subject to the rendering of materials. The full face taken removes a bit of relief in the room. A slightly oblique would have been preferable.
Why the sudden flash ? hdr processing should be there to compensate for the variations of light without having recourse.

Why the sudden flash ? To allow the outside to be well exposed of course... Without it the light outside would have been burned even with the hdr process... Try at you take a picture of window from inside of your room and you will see that without flash you can't expose the top of your photo...

But to make the hdr, it takes several exhibitions (minimum 3 to -2, 0, +2 EV and more, if necessary) to just have high-lights, non-cramées and low lights no bites. Then it is in the hdr and the tone mapping to preserve these lights.

Yes I am totally agree with you when you have the same mood on your photo, but in my photo I have two ambience (the inside is completely dark and the outside very clear), and so putting the flash I expose correctly for the outside and inside in one shot, added to it two sockets, a -2 and +2 I find myself with a hdr 3 shots... If I wanted to do without flash I would have to take at least 7 or 9 shots to get it all lead...

Although dilapidated and in ruins, this house has a very nice view, and the hdr suits him well.

Original and treated well... An interesting look at the remains of the not so distant past.
