Jay in the flowers Eurasian Jay

Author 'Gilbair' (Id 221287 ) : For once this bird so fast seemed a little less fierce. It is true that there was a second not far away and both seemed to be hard busy to find food in this piece of prairie near Montricher (Switzerland). Probably a couple with a nest in the woods nearby.
He, however, 'head' : with the sun in the face I did not have him 'get the picture' ! He has not deigned to pass on the other side for I finally have the sun back. For me to move myself there had to not think about it, it would have spun well before, but it was that or nothing...

Hello gilbair
I think that a photo-sharing site with notice must work with objective advice and honest and that each one must accept a possible criticism or a different opinion on a cliché from the moment it airs.
My 'small' criticism was not really nasty...
For the advice I will not allow myself to give if this is not the one to accept negative criticism on a cliché. It is also this that makes progress and advance.
Go no hard feelings, I hope to see you soon for another photo on which we can agree...

Hello Claude,
If I went on the site it is to try and move forward and so I accept the criticism, and I seek the same in so far as they bring a positive side, not only in pointing out exactly what is wrong but more importantly, in proposing a possible solution.
The picture of jay has been very commented and there has been advice of touch-ups. I found them very interesting because there has been a marked improvement in the after photo, what I did not do myself. But at least I know that it exists and it only remains for me to try to get there in the future if I notice that something is amiss on an original image.
Thank you again for your focus. Gilbair.

This is a beautiful image of a very beautiful bird as the jay that we have not the possibility to see all the days, I would have more in shooter a for me also. The sharpness is very good and the framing in the big plan I like. I find only a lack of contrast and brightness that one can easily bring in post-processing. I will pass a retouch, where you can compare the difference.

Well, I'm going to be more critical I find this photo well mean the subject matter is dark we can't see the eye shadows are very present and the grass is very bright.

Hello,
I have read your comment with a certain astonishment. Without a doubt jay is it common, I would have been much more enthusiastic if I had been able to find myself nose to nose with a ornithorinque or a echidné and make it a 'scoop' local. But hey, a jay I don't see every day closer and I attempted the coup. I made several shots and chose the one that seemed to be relatively satisfactory in these conditions. And it is true that the eye is in shadow, and I have explained myself and the grass glows a little bit, but it is rather nice. There are other photos of jays which are much better than mine, it's a no brainer !
I've had other comments and a suggestion here is something constructive, but criticism for criticism this does not bring large thing. That this photo do you not like me, that is perfectly your right and I don't see anything wrong, but if you give me make advice on this would be much more interesting.
Gilbair.

This beautiful bird deserves to be put in value, congratulations and thank you for the clarity !

It is very beautiful this bird, it deserves to seize the moment to take it regardless of the conditions. The one that I took, myself, was also in Switzerland, Prilly (Lausanne), it seems to me that the jays swiss are not as scared as others.
Thank you, Gilbair, and soon !

Not the jays Swiss are also fierce. Next to my home in Switzerland I see often, arrows are bluish and impossible to photograph.
Just a stroke of luck. Gilbair.

Well beautiful bird, do not move was a good option. Thank you. A little too centered, however, but this can easily be corrected in post-processing.

I thank you for your note. This is not the first time someone suggests to me to decenter the subject.
Could you make me see on my own picture your way of looking at the framing. Thank you in advance. Gilbair.

Not so easy to approach this bird, so you did well not to move There are still not so bad the part in the shadow and the outline of her eye. The background is nice. This may lighten a bit in post-processing if necessary.

Hello Madam,
I am happy that my feathered you've... liked !.
I try whenever possible to find the best shooting conditions, but this is not easy. As a result of your note I tried to lighten the picture by 'gamma correction'. If we can distinguish much better the dark part of the head, the decor is affadi and I'm not happy with this method. If you have a tip I'm interested. Thank you in advance. Gilbair.

Rather than lighten the whole thing by gamma correction, which may indeed not be satisfactory in this case (after such a treatment it may be a good idea to increase the contrast), I would advocate more of a selective lightening of the dark parts (I do this with Photoshop Element or Photoscape, it is free and allows touch-ups often satisfactory) But here the photo, can remain as it is, the dark part is still readable.

Very good placement of the net for what jay might be a bit too much in the center, bravo. (TB).

Was better to stay and miss this shot, which despite everything, is not so bad her head a little bit in the shade but hey... sometimes one can't great thing, thank you for sharing this beautiful bird that I have not seen a single time in my garden

... And it is very much like that despite his eye in the shadow. The bird is elegant and the environment is nice, . A small presentation on the forum soon ?
