Lion's mound in Waterloo

Author 'Ghislain' (Id 220669 ) : The world rushed on this site for the commemoration of the 200 years of the massacre of 18 June 1815. This was a real 'party' . From 1824 to 1826 it had erected a mound (290. 000 m3, 41 m high, 169 m diam, 226 steps), on which we installed a bronze lion 28 tonnes and turned to the South. The lion symbolizes the victory of the allies and the new United Kingdom of the netherlands, because yes, Belgium was Dutch until 1830, the time of the revolution.
Shot took from the farm of la belle alliance', which is nice distance from the mound.

This is a nice monument commemorating the victory of Waterloo.

It takes blood, sweat lost for the Freedom that is as the memory sometimes when it is missing, when it is easy to forget and slip I do not know how durable... Yes, all of that, to start over, without doubt because the man always needs to prove his strength, his authority, his dominance... And, it's all edges. So yes, it is beautiful this dome, this statue was erected as a souvenir ; the feasts commemorative sempiternellement renewed. But it would be best now to stop looking at each other as potential enemies, to take by arms, not by force of arms, to kiss, and a definitive Peace. A nice picture of Ghislain, which at the bottom shows your desire to make Peace, of Fraternal being on this poor planet in Freedom. Marc.

Nice catch despite the distance. Fortunately, we were on vacation at the time of the commemoration because we live in the centre and it would have been impossible to get out of the car.

Thank you Ninik for your comment. Yes it is very far to the 'Farm of the Belle Alliance'. The wind was blowing hard and I had to find a solid support to prevent blur from moving. In addition, a light mist forced me to rework the cliché of the 'labo' .
