One of the greatest churches of France

Author 'Perronnet Catherine' (Id 244037 ) : I recently had the opportunity to revisit Périgueux and its famous Saint-Front cathedral famous for its size, and its original architecture. Several times have seen its construction, but the Twelfth century was the period of casting. Is here that overlooks part of the city.

In addition, the rest of Périgueux is also very nice with a nice old centre.

Thank You Ferdinand. In fact, I had the same problem as you at la Turbie. This very imposing cathedral is nested in the middle of houses and it is difficult to capture in a photo.

And it is for this reason that I have accredited a (TB) as between will and be able to there is a big difference, and you still managed to show us nicely this beautiful cathedral.

Thank you for your visit. This cathedral is majestic, too bad the foreground is distracting here : I've not been able to do better.

It is beautiful the whole photo of the Cathedral of Périgueux, I know a little, but I remember not taking it fully, we were in Soulac (24) !
And yes, the printing of postage stamps is well to Boulazac at the side of Périgueux. (word of a mail carrier !!).

Thank you for your kindness. It is not easy to have the cathedral as a whole, there is not quite on the decline. Here I get to have all the domes but not the bottom. I'm on a bridge a little further. I know Soulac (33) near me but not in (24). Would you confirm, therefore, for the printing of stamps of Boulazac.

Thank you Catherine for your explicit answer, and forgive me, I have make a mistake in name of city ; I know the two, but in the Dordogne we were at Souillac where there is a large and beautiful Abbey church, as to Soulac, it is the beautiful beachfront resort in the Gironde.

Thank you for your compliments John, but I find my picture very average. By contrast, the sky that day was an advantage and I managed to have this massive cathedral in full in its length, but the houses in the foreground hide the bottom.
> Jofu [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Feb 23, 2019
I had walked past this photo . This cathedral is impressive by its dimensions and by the multitude of domes. The blue sky and the beautiful light on the stone to make the picture bright, .

I am aware that this photo is only average in spite of the sky, which was splendid this day but I wanted to give want to go visit it, it is so original and famous. The domes come from its business model, which is found in Constantinople. I knew it, but hadn't admired its architecture since few years. Thank you for your visit.

Good, given its age, the cathedral has not had to change too much since your visit ! This is not easy to have it in entirety because of its dimensions ! Thank you for your passage.

Really very curious building, which one would like to know its history. The cathedral is so imposing that it seems to spill out of the photo. Bravo for the originality.

Thank you for your interest. This cathedral is one of Europe's most famous. It was built on the model of the church of Sts Apostles of Constantinople on the basis of a first place of worship of the Sixth century, destroyed in the Ix by the Normans, the main reconstruction dates back to the Xi century.
> Mady [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Feb 21, 2019
What is the blue sky on which stands out this beautiful cathedral architecture little common among us with its domes You have managed to have it in its entirety

I had initially waived to take it because at the foot I did not have enough down, then I discovered, while walking in the city, as from a bridge located a little further on we came to have it in entirety. Thank you for your visit Mady.

All these domes to the same architecture stand out against the sky a bright blue. What a beautiful photo ! Only the left tower breaks with these domes are repetitive.

Yes, I believe that this printing house is located in Boulazac in the suburbs of Périgueux, but I've never been there. The city is nice. Thank you for your interest.
