Perennial a shark well quiet

Author 'Gilbair' (Id 224277 ) : This perennial-catch-fly (dionea muscipula) has relativemnt of luck. In this winter season it should be faded, but well protected in the greenhouses of the botanical garden of Madrid she still look great, but it is clearly hungry with its leaves 'traps' wide open. There is not the smallest insect to catch and digest.

Its jaws armed with sharp teeth are hardly engaging. If I understand well, in this greenhouse, it keeps this plant alive in a season where it shouldn't be, but it does not furnish him with food !

Hello and thank you for your comment. This plant is called 'perennial' to the natural state. In the winter (it is below zero, it seems) there should nothing remain on the surface except dead leaves. It grows in wet ground and very poor (bogs) and insects which are its prey, to serve as a dietary supplement. They can be found I believe in gardening, but I do not know how they should be treated. I guess in the greenhouses where I photographed, outside the fog in which it is sprinkled abundantly, we must give them discreetly, a bit of fertilizer to keep them in such a shape and presentable to the public ! This says if the leaves are so open and so beautiful it is that they are ready to nibble on something alive...
