Author 'Ninik' A voir (Id 139356 ) : A zoom shot, and here is a detail (bottom) of Trajan's Column (29m high and 2.50m in diameter) found at the end of the Forum of Trajan. On the whole circumference of the column reliefs tell the campaigns of the emperor. These reliefs are increasing in size as and elevation to remain always visible. She has 18 drums of white marble in the shape of a cylinder. The reliefs are carved recount the exploits of the emperor in Dacia (now Romania). On the column, one can notice the expertise of the Roman armies: they are seen fighting, but also build camps in wood, stone and brick, cross the Danube in boats, and felling trees. Inside there is a spiral staircase of 185 steps illuminated by 43 small rectangular openings, such as that seen in the top of the photo.

Guylaine thank you very much for your comment and for adding this photo from your favorites. I did touch up but I do not know if it's better.

Superb those details, I think I approached further, Ninik, especially since you have given us the complete column on your previous post. The background on the right is a bit disturbing, or it might be necessary to standardize with the left. What work of precision: 1: thank you for this moment. : 18:

+: A nice closeup of the column of Trajan. Just the press of the time to inform the people carved images. Outstanding work of these craftsmen. : 4:

-:A trifle overexposed and, like Charlie, I deplore the buildings in the background.

> Charly [G] [P] [C] [B] [F] >Reply Feb 05, 2011
+: Excellent focus on the details of this column finely chopped. : 1:

-:Damage to the modern building on the right, but perhaps it was difficult to avoid it??
