Author 'Lustgarten' (Id 204095 ) : The Temple of the Ancestors of the Chen Family陳 家 祠 (Chén Jiā Cí) is an architectural ensemble of the city of Canton (Guangzhou), built in 1894. The Temple is a chamber that contains nine halls, six courtyards and nineteen buildings, connected by corridors, it is separated from the outside world by walls. The buildings are divided into three according to confucian tradition : one to receive, one to meet and the last to celebrate the ancestors. It served as the sanctuary of the family, to honor at its best ability and to venerate their ancestors. According to belief, the human being has two souls, one is physical and the other spiritual. After death, it is customary to make offerings and pray to the deceased in exchange for his protection and benevolence. The dishes are then eaten by the last son of the family that symbolizes the reincarnation of the souls missing. The Chen family has been able to build this building, thanks to funding from different parents. T
