The kingfisher of Europe

Author 'Francis-Sisco' (Id 190392 ) : With a little luck, I was able to attend to the comings and goings of a kingfisher that was feeding along a small stream near the lake of Genval.

Excellent shot. I know the Meerlaan to be passed number of times by making the tour of the lake, but I have never preview. Sniff.

Returning to the pool of Rixensart, I am still past. Now one way. I just had to photograph a duck that I did not know. For the kingfisher, you have to go to the next stream... this is where he fishes and for the wagtail also ; thank you for your comment.

What luck to have been able to approach a kingfisher... Not easy, they are so fast. This is a bird beautiful and the framing with highlights its colors.

You're right, the chance is to see it in its environment to full width. It is fast especially in flight and in dives. When it is frozen as here, it is less attentive

A subject of exception that this bird that inspired you to draw on your expertise to capture those moments that you wanted so much to fix. Your answers to the comments lead me to think that you look to do even better. If you race in this adventure, I advise you the reading of 'Martin the fisherman'. A book published in late 2012 by Weyrich. You'll find the photos of its author, Etienne LENOIR, a professional photographer who opened a gallery near Florenville to Chassepierre. You can even contact them : it is charming.
I guarantee that he knows what he's talking about.

Thanks for the info. Actually, knowing the bird, there's a way to do much better. It is the purpose of the photograph

it really is a beautiful bird and I love the natural setting, and its small bays in which you have photographed.

The tree on which the kingfisher is a alder. You can see that he wears two different kinds of fruit ; one male, the other female. This tree is very hardy lives in the edges of the water. (see the link).

We are still in the midst of nature... The bird is perched to watch the stream and then dive like an arrow into the water and catch a small fish. On the timeline you can see the photo with the fish in its beak (a pity that this photo is blurred).

Better . The subject is in focus, the image is less noisy, the framing as it should be. Missing the small sliver in the eye. The next one should still be better

> Tintin.dd [G] [P] [C] [B] [F] >Reply Jan 31, 2013
Very nice sharpness on this beautiful kingfisher. He has a cold, this poor bird, he has the drop on the beak . Bravo Francis.

> Buchsinet [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Jan 30, 2013
Beautiful placement, beautiful attitude which gives the effect of movement and the background is nice also. It's missing a flash shot to be perfect. But it is already a beautiful image as well. Also, bravo

I hope that I'll review it in the sun ; sometimes it was the luck with us and then... we move on to something else ; go to the birds and discover... it is a bit like going to an adventure in which one is surprised by so many events... Thank you for your comment

Thank you for your comment.
Patience... a little ; but it is above all the joy of meeting this bird who was the driving force of these shots.
What time happiness (I just check the hours on my photos) was of 15 minutes from 14: 20 to 14H35)
I counted from the first photo to the last of the kingfisher

> Gipsy34 [G] [P] [C] [B] [F] >Reply Jan 30, 2013
Beautiful your kingfisher ! I'd love to do a meeting like this, thank you Francis.

> La cri [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Jan 30, 2013
Oh it makes me happy that you are continuing your presentations kingfisher ! It is a bird which fascinates me !

> WebMaster FEI [G] [P] [C] [B] [F] >Reply Jan 29, 2013
This time the distance with this bird deemed fearful is perfect. The set is dark. Will you get the opportunity to return to this place during a day a little more sunny ? If yes, it should be perfect !

The place is only 2-3 small miles away from home (the lake of Genval) ; I went back there two days ago, I saw him again, but... : 20:
