The pastel dyers Woad



Author 'Le Fada de Marseille' (Id 233686 ) : It is a plant used to produce blue dye. It grows in dry places : vacant lots, roadsides, rock gardens. The many yellow flowers that appear from April to July, are grouped in large clusters, decorative, branched, and spreading.

You're right Ninik, hard to imagine that this plant can give a blue dye. The crushing and the maceration of the leaves is the best way to get this pigment called indigo. Thank you for sharing

This plant owes its fame to the wealth generated by the blue pigment extracted from its leaves which is used in particular for dyeing the clothes of kings. Thank you for having enjoyed Catherine
