Victory, Cotinus is one of the shrubs more resistant to drought, but provided you have a supply of water the first 3 years. Mine are planted in a very clay soil with a pH of 7 (hence neutral), but they bear the calcareous soil. They are all in full sun ... the only thing is, if you want beautiful red shoots in spring and fall, you need to prune the branches from 10 to 20 cm depending on the state of your Cotinus. If he is healthy, you just cut, if you cut more. The burnt edges of the leaves of yours probably mean that he too hot ... perhaps because he is too young. Try to spray the foliage every night (not the day because the sun magnifying glass and burn even more leaves). You can also pour a little diluted liquid nettle (a totally natural fertilizer) at the base once a week.

Hello, I planted a Cotinus coggyria in the garden in the spring, but it did not go too well. The edge of the leaves became dark brown, as if it were burned. It is in full sun but from what I read, it should enjoy this. I do not know the type of land that I have (I moved 6 months ago) but the land has very dry air (it looks like concrete when it is warm). I do not know if I have to much water or if preferred just drought. I found nothing on internet about my problem, apparently this plant should just stay out of trouble and be easy. Too much water, not enough water, mushrooms or something ... ? Can anyone help me?

To answer your question Victoire, this' wigs tree (Cotinus coggygria) requires fertilizer in spring after a dry size of wood, interlocking or sick, light soil, moderate watering and a few hours of sunshine day (a little shade to be). Very resistant, for extreme cold, it will protect the root with leaves or straw. Foliage and inflorescences are very decorative as this cliché. Here are some tips gleaned here and there. Thank you for the commentary and the author of the picture. : 15:

This is the tree wigs (Cotinus coggygria). The success of this shrub, round leaves and colourful (pictured). Its foliage, green in spring, in autumn, before falling, changes color and becomes red. This shrub offers pink flowers that grow in the summer in the form of panicles until the fall. Beautiful photo !
