Fortunately, all the females do not practice this ritual after the love... What would become of our planet ??? Super,Chantal for this picture so well taken. And to answer Molilou, the stick insect resembles a twig, it has nothing to do with a praying mantis.

Beauty evil, yes it is appropriate to say : you know that these lovely praying mantis (the female) will kill and eat the male after mating? As said Daniel, one really wonders why 'religious' ! In any case for the photo and for having the courage to take it to the hand !!!

But it will not Chantal ? Brrr... This beauty seems to me to be very intelligent, with her inquisitive eyes, imposing, sure of it !!! On these guards or aggressive, go figure ? Obviously, these flying impressed me They do have the human and robotic ! They are incredible Beauty of evil, I would say, that's what they inspire me. I love the place where you have asked.

It's called "religious" because of its front legs folded as if praying it when it moves into position to watch.

It really is one insect that intrigues me, I don't know what to put as an adjective. I almost want to say that it is beautiful, but it is not the term that defines what I feel. A mixture of attraction and repulsion stupid. Your photo makes me of the effect

Chantal, this is a praying mantis (male I believe)and you don't even have to fear ? A shame to have it put on the table rather than on a branch !
