In summer 2007, I had a butterfly Sphinx just browse the flowers from my terrace. It is not obvious to put in the box these little beasts there. This year I have not reviewed: 4:

It is a butterfly : the Moro-sphinx (Macroglossum stellatarum), also called 'Sphinx hummingbird' because of its resemblance with the bird 'Hummingbird'. Very nice photo. Bravo and thank you.
> Raghnarokk >Reply Aug 08, 2007
When the lavenders are in bloom there are not bad. They look like hummingbirds but the real hummingbirds are birds so good, it is quite strange. It may be a butterfly... PS : The photo is superb, bravo ( especially taking into account the speed of this bug).

What is more beautiful than this small insect-bird, there are like this, though that I observed in the garden, finally I was able to put a name, a sphinx ! Your photo is beautiful, thanks to you, the profile is perfect, the body, the wings, the eyes, everything is there ! And in the lavender I do not tell you the effect ! Nature in all its glory, thank you.
> Cigale04 >Reply Apr 12, 2007
Little bug stopped in its course by the aim, the wonderful purple of the lavender against the green looking great in the background. The key orange wings that illuminates the grey of the body of the critter.

> Françoise >Reply Mar 17, 2007
Thank you for this beautiful photo ! All the more that it is an extraordinary accuracy... had to be very difficult to achieve. This beautiful insect has fascinated me for a long time. It is like no other ; it comes from it seems very far away and every summer I have the joy of keeping it going, especially on the geraniums. In short, I would like to know a lot more on his account !

> Matheline >Reply Aug 09, 2006
Hello, It's been 3 years that it makes me visit in my backyard flower ! I called the butterfly and the hummingbird ! I confirm that it is also found in Belgium (province of Liège). Knowing at what point it is 'gigottant', hat for the photo
> Alain t'est rieur >Reply Aug 08, 2006
Hawk-moth or macroglossum stellatarum also improperly called hummingbird. ? why improperly ? it is so much more romantic and exotic to call it a hummingbird or good news. This animal colonizes almost the whole of France helping with the pollination.
> Marcelina >Reply Jul 27, 2006
I had the chance to see this little butterfly yesterday for the first time, launching its wrong with greed in the flowers of a clump of petunias. This photo is remarkable.

> Persianne_One >Reply Jul 11, 2006

Hello to you !!! A beautiful photo, with you telling me a butterfly !!! I have one that comes in my geraniums every day ; which is not quite the same ; I would say a species of bird toddler who is very much alive, to the point that I can't take it... perhaps you know... more. daniel.
> Nunuche [G] [P] [C] [F] >Reply Jul 05, 2006

This is already a very nice photo ! It is a moro-sphinx or sphinx colibri, it belongs to the family of butterflies. My lavenders are also the hosts of many beautiful insects, I should go there more often !
> Themmehartnett >Reply Jun 29, 2006
How amazing is this animal !!! It really is his name 'inscetocollibri'? In all cases it is true that it looks like a mixture of Collibri and a kind of small insect ^^ The framing is nice. Bravo to have managed to take this photo
