Ruins Mountain

Author 'Ifloras' A voir : Ruins of Rocca Sparviera in rear country nicois. It is a village high perch with older stones date back to the year 1000! It was abandoned only current 17th, and the reasons for this long prosperity are also those of his fall: isolation and the lack of road access from the valleys.

Nice testimony to a bygone era. The lack of communication has been the main reason for the disappearance of entire villages in the middle mountain. I have plenty around me to the ruins that are similar but may not be so old. Levaleton.

Very nice shot of these ruins. Life in this old village at their time had to be difficult, but certainly with sides attractive : quiet, beautiful landscape. Bravo and thank you.

They are moving these ruins perched so high! It takes courage to climb up there but it's worth it: this rare photo tickles the imagination, and how that lived in this unusual place and inaccessible, who had gradually disappear in a deprivation of resignation .. . The impossible has become, it was down and leave the expensive stones that died in the abandonment ... It's very beautiful, very grand!

Thank you Nenfer13 for this additional info. I see you know well the area. But I maintain that the Village has survived until the Seventeenth century, before the seismes not make it too difficult to access and the water supply.

A beautiful chain of mountains, your photo lacks a little contrast.

Beautiful outlook ; I would have given a little 'oomph' to the picture for a little more contrast and sharpness.

Nice photo missing a little bit of light. This village, 'Rock sparrow hawks' in French, culminates at an altitude of 1100 m and from the village of 'Coarraze' at 620m of altitude it is necessary to perform an ascent hiking more than 4h00 walk. It was abandoned in the XII th century due to earthquakes and the lack of water, it had at its peak up to 350 people.
